Remember how I said earlier that I hate Tuesdays? Well, now I love them. At least for this week. Since the 4th of July is tomorrow, Tuesday means you're halfway through the work week. YAY.
However the down side to this week is that it's a really slow week. Many people at Champalimaud started vacation Tuesday and it was already slow today. I know it's only going to get slower too - at least 12+ people will be gone Thursday and Friday as well.
Laura said she was going to sit in the materials room again, so I sat up front at the desk with Alia again. And sure enough, just as I had predicted, it was a pretty slow day. Alia actually started doing some rendering for Jon in the library so I was by myself for a while.
A vendor came in at noon just like every Tuesday. They were okay - it was a company called Porcelanosa. Lunch was the best part about it. They brought a ton of food and there were a lot of employees gone today. I had seconds and even thirds of some things. YAY.
At one point I went down to the 6th floor and helped Aijun cut and prepare these huge construction documents for some project meeting thing she was going too. And then later I created 5 sets of labels for Christine for these 5 binders she was creating. We got a ton of office supplies in today so I worked on unpacking those while I was by myself at the desk.
Laura left around 2 to go with Rose, the principal Alexandra, and some others to the Waldorf Hotel for a site visit. They were gone for a while - at least two and a half hours. We had created labels for the hard hats they were going to be wearing. :)
At four I went to get ice cream and ice for Jon at Whole Foods for the root beer float party we were having at the office. He was throwing it for us. Yeah, it was that chill today.
FINALLY after work ended I rushed home because Emily and mother had landed at about 5:30 and I wanted to get home to meet them at my apartment. Luckily I had gotten home before they had arrived so I hung out in my apartment until they called me letting me know that they were waiting outside on the sidewalk.
After I let them in and they unpacked some of their stuff, we headed out to eat at Ritz Diner down the street to my apartment. Then we went to the columbus circle area up on 59th west. We walked up to the temple and then just continued walking for a while.
Eventually we all just got hot and kind of bored of wandering so we went back to my neighborhood and went over to Johnny Rockets to split two shakes between the three of us - strawberry banana and mocha fudge. SO GOOD.
Should be a fun week playing around with the family!
