Everyone else seemed to continue their fourth of july vacation today - except the interns. Today was really really slow. I think 14 people were out of the office today. Maybe more that I didn't even notice. So over half.
Rose came up and had four different glass tiles she wanted me to scan and send to her. Oh boy - something to do for 2 seconds. I completed that and then Winston called from downstairs and wanted me to come down. He needed me to prepare this set of pricing documents he was taking to a meeting this morning. So I recut them all. I had already cut them yesterday for Aijun once, but I guess it wasn't good enough. Blaaah. Whatever.
When I came up I needed to make labels again for Christine/Jeff. 5 more sets. Took a while to figure it out because it wasn't printing right for the longest time. Finally figured it out and finished them. Alia ordered some samples for Anna while I was doing this. Then Rose came up and asked us to wrap up those samples of glass in bubble wrap to get them ready to pack and ship.
At some point a lady called from an Interior Design firm in Chicago asking if I knew what wallcovering was used in a relaxation room in our Peninsula Spa project. No... definitely not off the top of my head. I told her I'd have to look it up and that I may not find out for a while because lots of the office is gone.
I went to lunch and got some sushi at Whole Foods. Too bad lunch couldn't have been three hours today... I hate slow days. I had some tasks to do in the morning, but literally nothing to do in the evening. Me and Alia were dying. Laura had been helping Rose ALL day photoshopping some elevations for a project downstairs. But I guess there wasn't enough for us to help on things too.
Eventually I suggested Alia go to the libray and organize things. It couldn't hurt. I deleted 2 year old messages we didn't need out of our inbox for like 2 hours. Thrilling. Esther emailed us around 5 asking us if we had time to do some photoshopping for her and Alia about died of excitement over something to do, so I let her do it.
She finished that up about 15 minutes before closing, so I emailed Rose again about the glass samples I scanned this morning and then wrapped up for her. She called about 15 minutes later and asked where I live. So I told her, confused. She asked if I could drop off these samples on my way home. Grr. Fine. It would have been nicer if you would have just given me the address to ship them to 15 minutes earlier and then Fausto (our fedex man) could have just picked them up when he stops by everyday after work....
But I did it anyways. They were pretty heavy actually when I had them all packaged up. The place was on 25th st and Lexington. When I got there and got in the elevator, pressing the 11th floor button did nothing. Pressing any floor for that matter did nothing. Which I thought was weird - I thought maybe the elevator was out of commission or something. Taking the stairs it was. However 10 flights later the stairs ended. I couldn't get to the eleventh by stair. You have got to be kidding me.
I got out on the 10th floor and tried pushing for the elevator down and it never came. BOO. So back down the stairs I went. I asked the doorman that how to get to the 11th floor because these packages were expected to get there tonight. He just said he wasn't authorized to do that. What? So I asked if I could just leave them at his desk and then inform the company that they were downstairs - to which he got snappy again and said he could not do that. Well thanks so much for your help stupid, useless doorman.
I was not happy. It was hot outside and carrying these glass tiles around was tiring. I met mother and emily at the laundromat on my way home. I helped mother carry home all the bags of clothes. Rose called and asked if I was able to deliver them because they were waiting for me. So I explained what happened and after she talked to HeeSeung, I was told just to drop them off on the way to work tomorrow. Oh hooray...
We thought we'd go out to eat at Grand Central Station tonight. We stopped at H&M on our way there because I wanted to buy a pair of pants, and then we were off. We ate at Juniors because it wasn't just about the only sit down restaurant open past 9 down there.
We came home and stayed there for the rest of the night. I do not want to go to work tomorrow. It will be a joke.
