The dreaded hot Saturday.

Today was supposed to be one of the last days of this big heat wave back here and we weren't looking forward to the heat/humidity. I think it was supposed to be 103 or 104 with the humidity or something like that. So yucky. We planned ahead that today was basically going to be an inside day because we really didn't want to just wander around new york getting really sweaty and gross. It's not fun at all.

So after sleeping in till 10 we slowly started getting ready for the day. We started off by going to H&M because mother was a being a dear and bought me my favorite shirt there. :) Thanks mother! Then we headed down to Union Square again so Emily could get even more pants at forever 21. Shopaholic on this trip. We also went down to the theatre to pick up our tickets for tonight for a 9:16 showing of The Amazing Spiderman! Yay!
After going back to the apartment quickly just to drop off our clothes, we headed off to Madame Tussauds! What a fun wax museum! I really enjoyed going here! It was so fun to see all these famous people, historical and present, in wax form. And boy did they look super super real. It was almost weird standing next to some for a picture because it seemed like they'd just spring to life at any moment. And there was even a fun 4d movie as part of the museum! Neat!
Afterwards we were all hungry so we went to Carnegie Deli for two slices of cheesecake which were delicious! Mother took a bite of one of the pickles they give you as sort of an appetizer, decided it was gross, and then put the rest on the plate of someone who had just left the table next to her. Hahaha.
But Carnegie Deli was pricey for a whole meal, so we went down to Union Square so mother and Emily could try Cosi. They have catered for us at work many times so I knew they were really yummy and I thought Emily and Mother would like. And they did! They split a margherita pizza which they loved. Interestingly enough, the dreaded hott saturday, didn't seem as bad. It was overcast for part of the day which helped. The direct sun can be so hott.
We then went back to the apartment again to drop off the leftover cheesecake and just relaxed a bit before leaving to the movie down at Union Square. It was such a big theatre! I have never before gone up 2 escalators just to get the theatre. There was already a huuuuge line out the door when we got there, but luckily we were able to sit together. And we loved the movie! So good!
When we got outside afterwards, it was lightly lightly raining and you could tell it had been pouring earlier. But when we got off at our stop on 59th street, it was POURING. We got absolutely soaked. Mother had one umbrella, but it was no match at all. There was lots of thunder and lighting and it was blowing. We were so soaked, but it was fun too - what an adventure it was coming back at midnight in the rain.

Yay for a dreaded saturday that turned out rainy!
And I think I took a million pictures at the wax museum, but here's only a few. :)

The outside! I loved the hand holding the sign.

The actual people. Kidding.
But maybe not...

Mrs. Doubtfire man! My favorite character ever.

The Kennedy's!!

Aww... William and Kate.
And me and emily.

Ghandi!

Who I was waiting throughout the whole museum to see.

Union Square after the movie. Pretty!
